Scope of the Examination (Written)

  • The written examination content outline conforms to the practice job competencies defined by the NACCFI Forensic Interviewer Job Analysis (2012).  The content of the examination content outline shall not exceed this scope.  If there are topics specified by the scope that are not addressed by the content outline, there shall be an explanation, or the content outline shall be modified.
  • The written examination consists of 100 multiple-choice questions resulting in a perfect score of 100%.
  • The question breakdown follows the allotment set out by the NACCFI Forensic Interviewer Job Analysis (2012) as follows:
    • Dynamics of Child Maltreatment -14 questions
    • Child Development – 30 questions
    • Forensic Interviewing Questions – 30 questions
    • Court Process Questions – 17 questions
    • Investigative Context and Protocol – 9 questions

Scope of the Examination (Practical)

  • The practical examination consists of 100 marks resulting in a perfect score of 100% with a breakdown as follows:
    • Dynamics of Child Maltreatment -14 questions
    • Interview preparation – 5 marks
    • Interviewer characteristics – 24 marks
    • Interview phase I – Engagement Phase (Rapport building) – 10 marks
    • Interview phase II – Exploratory Phase – 17 marks
    • Interview phase III – Validation (Substantive) Phase – 34 marks
    • Interview phase IV – Corroboration Phase – 4 marks
    • Interview phase V – Termination Phase – 4 marks
    • Interviewer insight and reflection- 2 marks
